When today started, I was definitely in Hong Kong. My GL took me to a Chinese Wedding today. I didn’t understand a word, but the flow seemed pretty similar to any Christian wedding in The States. Girl in a white dress, Guy in a tux. Some people sing, there’s a choir full of cute kids. The only discernable difference was when the bride and the groom presented gifts to the parents at the end. Oh, and the lack of reception following the wedding. I am thoroughly enjoying soaking up the Hong Kong culture. I find it fascinating that things can be so similar and yet so incredibly different. It’s hard to explain.
By mid-afternoon, I was also still in Hong Kong. Where else could I afford to have someone wash and fold my clothes? The laundry service in our hotel is excellent! I am completely spoiled. I think it is actually cheaper for the service to wash my clothes than it is for me to do it myself. Life could not be better!
By early evening, I was hard pressed to find anything resembling Hong Kong. No Asian people. No Chinese signs. Nothing. I enjoyed a lovely sushi dinner followed by a wonderful visit to an Italian Wine Bar. Lan Kwai Fong is packed with Expats. I would go to a local Hong Kong bar to check out the bar culture, but the bars are primarily filled with Expats. Disappointing.
