Finally! Something educational

I went to the first interesting presentation in Hong Kong today. A former Exxon employee presented on what it takes to work in Asia. His views are below:

Basically, if someone in China says yes, they mean maybe. If they say there is an internal regulation, they mean they don’t like you and you’re screwed. Deadlines mean nothing to the Chinese and they are comfortable changing terms even after they are agreed upon – even if that agreement is in writing.

All interesting information and actually quite representative of some of the situations that I've witnessed personally.
