Why climb a perfectly driveable bridge?

01-01-06
Morning scare – checked email for the first time and found an email from Dad that just said “Email me”. For those who don’t already know this, it is very mean to email someone a message like this because if the recipient experienced a lot of family crises this year, she could absolutely freak out and burst into tears while running to find her friend with an international calling card. The poor recipient of such an email may not calm down for at least an hour – even after talking to her Mom and finding out that everything really is OK. Whew… that will get your heart pumping!

Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb – I’m leaving for this in about an hour, so with any luck I will have good things to report later today. If for some reason I am the first person to get a call from God while I’m on the bridge – well, that’s not going to happen, so maybe I won’t even think about it. That is my idea of a pep talk.

Talk about hot! The temp hit 114 on the bridge climb. Thankfully the bridge gets a nice breeze. The breeze made me a bit nervous at a couple of points though. I was standing on very thin metal over very deep, shark infested waters. I really am a lucky girl. My four friends that climbed with me today are fantastic people who I feel lucky to know. I didn’t even know these people a year and a half ago, but on New Year’s Day, I stood with them at the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
